DJ Gavin Maycroft (Oma333):

Back in the Mother days of 2011 I had the pleasure of booking Laura as a part of the magical evening that was the Fonal Records showcase at Mosebacke, Södra Teatern. She was heavily pregnant, glowing and her set cast a spell over the 100 or so astounded attendees. That night Matti and others joined her on stage and he did so again when I welcomed her back for a solo show at Hemliga Trädgården a few years later, with her equally majestic label mate Islaja. Also she played a starring role in one of my favourite Mother line ups ever together with Visible Cloaks, Jason Urick and Olimpia Splendid at Fylkingen. WHAT A NIGHT THAT WAS!
When Laura mentioned that Helena & Matti would be around for this period I jumped at the chance to set something up and I can’t imagine a better spot for this than Rönnells! It will be so nice to do a show again at one of my favourite spaces. Join us!

Lau Nau, aka Laura Naukkarinen, is one of the more interesting names in the Finnish music scene. Her songs are imbued with a cinematic breadth of vision and her idiosyncratic, finely honed soundworld builds on fragile, spectral otherness. You can feel the time stop while she shares small stories with the audience, accompanied by a sea of sounds. She composes, produces and performs music for films, theatre and sound installations using both acoustic and electronic instruments and field recordings, combining everything from analogue synthesizers to found objects and her own voice.

Lau Nau returns with her 5th album “Poseidon”. The album has garnered a wide acclaim across media and fans. The biggest newspaper in Finland Helsingin Sanomat gives it ⅘ stars and Rumba magazine gave it 9,1 out of ten points and calls “one of the most important pieces of art” released this year. The album is nominated for the Emma prize (Finnish equivalent of Grammys) in the critics award category.

‘Poseidon’ is a suite of luminous, melancholic, world-weary songs that exist in a world of all their own, treading the line between chamber folk and experimental pop. Centered around Laura’s beautiful voice and piano, the album also includes a small cast of guest musicians, including cellist Helena Espvall (Espers, Steve Gunn, Damon & Naomi), Swedish composer Matti Bye, Finnish bowed lyre player Pekko Käppi and percussionist Samuli Kosminen who has mixed and co-produced the album with Laura. Each song is a gem of its own, with lustrous melodies spun from the web of seasons, by turns ghostly and earthy.
